Student Council Election

Student elections play a vital role in shaping the democratic culture within educational institutions. They provide students with the opportunity to actively participate in decision-making processes, voice their opinions, and elect representatives who can address their concerns. Such elections nurture leadership qualities, responsibility, and accountability among students, preparing them for civic engagement in larger democratic systems. The student Council election 2025-26 at Bishop Cottons women’s Christian law college was conducted on 25-08-2025. The election process commenced with the notification and publication of the preliminary electoral roll on 14th August 2025, which was also the date for filing nominations. Complaints regarding the preliminary electoral roll were accepted until 16th August 2025 by 11:00 a.m. The last date for receipt of nominations was 18th August 2025 by 1:00 p.m., followed by the scrutiny of nominations on the same day at 3:00 p.m. The list of valid nominations was published on 19th August 2025 by 10:00 a.m., and candidates had time until 2:00 p.m. the same day to withdraw their nominations. The final list of valid nominations was released on 20th August 2025 by 10:30 p.m. Campaigning was held on 21st and 22nd August 2025, while polling, scrutiny and counting of votes, and the declaration of results all took place on 25th August 2025. The student union election was held on 25th August 2025, with the counting of votes conducted on the same day. A total of 59 posts were contested, and Ms. Soujanaya was elected as the President, marking a historic moment as she became the first President of the Union from the 3-year LL.B programme. The Investiture Ceremony took place on 4th September 2025, during which all the elected members of the Union and Council formally took charge. The occasion was graced by Ms. Keerthi B. Nadig, Family, Parent and Child Counsellor, who attended as the Chief Guest, along with the Board of Management members, making the event both significant and memorable.
